The former General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) says Ghana needs a thinking leader to steer the affairs of the country come 2024.

Mr Kwabena Agyapong speaking on Skyy Power FM’s Jolly Breakfast Show on Monday, February 6, said the country needs someone who has a proven record of doing great things for the country.

He said, what is important as a person is to impact society and that is what he has been doing all these years.

Mr Agyapong who was the Press Secretary for former President J. A Kuffour from the year 2001 to 2006 has made his intentions clear to run for the presidency on the ticket of the NPP come 2024.

He said,” We should value the country more than how we value money, And as politicians, one of the things we should have is sympathy for the people and I believe if you are someone with no sympathy for society then you should not go close to politics.”

“I want to use my experience through politics to impact the next generation, it shouldn’t be all about what we can gain.”

Mr Agyapong also made a revelation during his interview with Naomi Afriyie Nanor that, he did not accept any salary from the party during his tenure as the General Secretary of the NPP.

“I want to be an advocate for Ghana, for good governance, for a new dawn in Ghanaian politics based on the values of money not being the motivation for one to enter into politics or take public roles.”

“You go there to empty yourself to ensure the good of the Ghanaian people, I am not after materialism and it is important for us to build a new political culture,” Mr Agyapong added.
