The Director of Communications of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr Sammy Gyamfi has described the force removal from office of the Ghana School of Law’s Student Representative Council (SRC) President, Mr Philemon Laar, as injustice of the highest order.
The one-time SRC President of the institution said contrary to public perception, injustices are carried out on a daily basis against students of the institution by management adding that students were not allowed to oppose for fear of victimization.
“I can tell you that institution is a place where injustice is perpetrated, I place where law students are trained, ironically, happens to be a place where injustice is perpetrated on daily basis against students and people are not allow to resist or oppose that for fear of victimization.
The NDC communicator was speaking on Good Morning Ghana, a current affairs programme on Metro TV on Thursday, March 18, monitored by GhanaPlus.com.
The astute politician and legal practitioner revealed, he and many others had their fair share of the injustices in the institution whose mandate was to train students to defend the country’s justice system some few years ago.
”All of us have had to fight our own battle in that institution,” he said.
He attributed the development to lack of adherence to due processes by school authorities adding that the issue goes beyond the ousting of the current SRC President from office since any body could be a victim of same.
“For me it is not just about Philemon, but it raises a bigger issue about the adherence to due process and the rule of law by the officials of Ghana School of Law and those who have oversight over that institution”.
