Ghana Water Company urges citizens to report cases of illegal connections

The Ghana Water Company Limited (GWCL) has been undertaking exercises to clamp down on illegal connections for the past months.

Already, it has disconnected illegally connected pipelines in the Greater Accra Region.

Several warnings have been given to persons involved in the act since the water company incurs huge financial losses which affect its operations.

ING. Dr Clifford Braimah the managing director of the Ghana Water Company Limited said customers can also help in checking such acts.

“Financial losses mean illegal connection, people tampering with our meters that is why we want citizens to check… If you allow somebody to tap more than he should tap, he is using another customer’s water, it is not only Ghana water company that is losing but communities as well.
