Going to OSP is opportunity to redeem my image – Charles Bissue – Skyy Power FM
Former Secretary to the dissolved Inter-Ministerial Committee on Illegal Mining (IMCIM), Charles Bissue has indicated that honouring the invitation by the Office of the Special Prosecutor will offer him an opportunity to redeem himself of the allegations that have been levelled against him.
He is certain that his cooperation would lead to a conclusion about the unresolved investigation into the works of the IMCIM that had long been pending ever since he left office in 2019.
Speaking exclusively on Asempa FM’s Ekosiisen Show, Mr Bissue reiterated that he has not been on the run, and would attend to the OSP’s invitation soon. He mentioned that he has a clear conscience about his stewardship, adding that “I have done no wrong.”
He indicated that it was rather unfortunate the OSP had declared him “Wanted” due to some misunderstanding that ensued from the invitation issued by the state agency.
“I think going to meet the Special Prosecutor or any other body, is an opportunity to even redeem my image. I am not on the run, and I’ve got nothing to hide. I have been in the country all this while. It is unfortunate this has happened.”
Mr. Bissue disclosed he has over the past five years been assisting a number of investigative bodies on several occasions in respect of the activities of the IMCIM. He recounted reporting on two counts, to the OSP during the tenure of the former Special Prosecutor, Martin Amidu.
“I’ve been to the Office of the Special Prosecutor during Martin Amidu’s administration. I have been to the NIB and CID too…both on two occasions, and I have been very cooperating.
In fact, I have volunteered information to aid their investigations in this matter. So be rest assured of my cooperating with the current Special Prosecutor in respect of investigations into this matter.”
He prayed that investigations as initiated by the OSP this time round, would lead to a closure of unresolved matters, particularly offering an opportunity to end the vilification he’s suffered the past years due to his work at the IMCIM.
“For the past five years, my name has been vilified and I think with time, my name will be redeemed. Sometimes, in the course of building a nation, some people are sacrificed. If that is my fate, so be it!
“It will be disingenuous on my part to continue defending the government and the NPP if I had committed any wrong or crime against the office I held or the nation,” he concluded.
