TV3’s broadcaster and NewDay host, Mr Johnnie Beresford Hughes has express worry at the rate of employment in the country which is forcing young girls into what he described as day light prostitution (hookup).
Speaking on JohnniesBite on TV3 NewDay, Monday, September 5, monitored by GhanaPlus.com, he said with as low as One Hundred and Seventy Ghana Cedis,(₵170), some young girls are ready to give in to any man who desire to have their way with them all night.
The girls who are engage in the trade popularly known as hookup also charges as low as One Hundred Ghana Cedis(₵100) and Eighty Cedis (₵80) respectively, for half night and short time.
For s*x video calls, all one is required is as low as Sixty Ghana Cedis(₵60) per hour and Thirty Cedis(₵30) for 30mins.

“The young girls are now doing hookup and you are wondering why HIV is up. They are doing hookup. They don’t know what hookup is. They are doing hookup They are selling themselves cheap to the men to sleep with them, hookup. Plain day light prostitution that is what they are doing, hookup and they have put price tag to it,” he said
Showing evidence of the claims on the programme, Mr Hughes blamed the development on lack of jobs for the youth.
According to Mr Hughes, the young girls who find themselves in the s*x trade would be better off if there were job opportunities available in the country and called on the President to let the retirees go to give way for the youth to secure jobs.
“So I say, let the retirees go and let the young grow. I have no problem if the retirees are now board chairman or they are consulting from afar. When the retirees start fighting with young people over jobs, people who have lived longer than Ghana, they are almost close to 100 and they are fighting with young people over the same jobs that young people cannot find, is a problem. Hookup, that is what the girls are doing now, hookup.
They are selling hookup, they don’t know who it is, they don’t know where they are coming from. They are just sleeping with anybody and anything who can afford so if you have ₵170 you can sleep with her the whole night. If you have ₵100, you will sleep with her some part of the night,” Mr Hughes emphasized.
“The young people can’t find jobs to do and instead of that you are giving old people jobs to do. People who have finish and they are on their retention and you give them contract extension what is that?,” he renowned broadcaster quizzed.
