Vida Essel-LampteyThe Director of the Legal Affairs of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr Abraham Amaliba has taken a swipe at the President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo following his statement that Ghanaians are lucky to have him as President during difficult times.
Speaking on TV3 NewDay on Friday, September 2, monitored by GhanaPlus.com, he said Nana Akufo-Addo is unapologetic and questioned what Ghanaians are lucky for?
“What can be good, In the midst of these challenges, these harsh economic challenges how can one celebrate and as if that is not enough, we were hit by cement prices, am told now is ₵73 and you have a president who is not apologetic and he is saying that we are lucky to have him. Can you imagine? This country is a joke,” Mr Amaliba said
“This is a president who virtually went on his knees to beg us, now he is saying it to our faces. Having messed up the economy he is saying it to our faces that we are lucky to have him. We are lucky because fuels prices have gone up, we are lucky because cement is 73, What a President, What a President,” he added.
According to him, Ghana under the Nana Akufo-Addo is totally chaotic adding that he must be living in a different world to be making such statement despite the difficulties he and his administration has plunged the country into.
“You know Rask Kimono.. Take away Nigeria, take Nigeria out and say Ghana jagajaga, everything scatter, scatter that is the situation we find yourself. So this President must rise up, I think he is living in a different world and his BNI people should stop chasing our lawyers and concentrate on how to give information to the President that the ground is not good”.
You are lucky to have me as President
Mr Amaliba was reacting to a statement made by the President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo while on a tour at the Upper West and Savannah regions.
He told the Yagbonwura and a gathering of chiefs and people of the Yapei-Kusawgu District in the Central Gonja District of the Savannah Region during the visit that “you are lucky; you have me as the President of Ghana”.
“What this tells me is that the 8 elections conducted in Ghana since 1992 have always gone to the National Democratic Congress and yet when I come here, I hear all of these demands.
The young man who for a long time was Deputy Minister of power, 17 communities in his district still has not been connected to electricity grid. But Yagbonwura, you are lucky; you have me as the President of Ghana. I’m going to do it for you,” the President said.
