Hundreds flood NIA office in Takoradi as Simcard registration deadline draws near

Hundreds of people flooded the Regional office of the National Identification Authority (NIA) in Takoradi to either collect their Ghana Card or replace them and whiles others are yet to register for theirs as the deadline for the SIM card draws near.

According to the regional manager for the National Identification Authority, Enoch Ben Sackey there are about 63000 Ghana Cards in the Western Office only to be collected by respective owners.

Speaking to skyy news, a resident said, “My Ghana card cannot be linked to my sim, I was told the card is faulty and there is a need to replace it that is why I am here. I can use it to withdraw money and do any other transaction but can’t use it to register my sim, now NIA is telling me the problem will be resolved in 3 months’ time, meaning I will lose my sim card.”
