A Security Analyst and Executive Director of Security Warehouse Adam Bonaa has said the media is partly to be blamed for consistent assaults on the lives by personnel of the Security Services in the country.
According to him, despite years of assaults on personnel in the media, members of the profession itself and it leadership seem to have close their eyes to remedies which could solve the situation and deter others from doing same.
He said the media has the power and the right to file charges and use the law court against unprofessional behaviors by the men in uniform but that had not been utilized.
“You the media I blame you because most often than not you are beaten and it looks like you don’t know the way to court, you don’t know the way to the police stations,” he said.
Mr Adam Bonaa made the comment on TV3 News@10 on Thursday, May 13 monitored by GhanaPlus.com.
He was speaking about the arrest of Citi TV’s Caleb Kudah and National Security’s responds that the service had instituted an investigation into the matter.
Go to court
He said this particular case if left in the hands of the National Security would be treated same as past cases and called on the management of Citi TV/FM to take the case up and file charges against the perpetrators to forestall future occurrences.
“Go report them, press charges, I think when you do this it’s going to probably serve as a deterrent to this rook element within the security sector who turns to beat civilians with impunity,” Mr Bonaa advised.
He said the action by the National Security was reprehensible and should not be countenance in the 21century.
