A member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr Godwin Edudzi Tamakloe has said integrity mean nothing to politicians in our part of the world least the Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia would have resign as the country’s second in command and also the Chair of the Economic Management Team.
According to him, the Vice President has failed to meet all bench marks he set while in opposition and also led his Economic Management Team to ride the country into a ditch and for that he should have resigned if integrity is anything to go by.
“What, integrity!…You associate integrity with Bawumia, please, listen where we are now. Look this country is in deep crises we are trying to get ourselves out of the crises situation. He should not compound where he has brought us,” Edudzi Tamakloe said.
Bawumia has not demonstrated fidelity to the very promises he made – Edudzi Tamakloe
“First of all, as the managers of the economy, as the Chair of the Economic Management Team, he has not demonstrated fidelity to the very promises he made to the people of this country. That is integrity!,” he added.
“This is a Vice President while in opposition sounded so lyrical on how to manage an economy. What is his score card? At the time he took over as Vice President of the Republic of Ghana and by convention the Chair of the Economic Management Team we were trading a dollar for GH₵4.5”
“At that time, a whole gallon of petrol, you will get it for GH₵14.50. Today a liter, what we use to call in the village a beer bottle of petrol, it will take you GH₵17. So the cost of a whole gallon on 2016 is even less than a litter today and you call integrity. This man has brought untold hardship. It unfortunate our part of the world integrity does not matter to we politician, if it does, Bawumia will humbly say am resigning as the Chair of the Economic Management Team”.
Edudze Tamakloe made the comment on TV3 NewDay on Tuesday, November Monitored by GhanaPlus.com.
He made the comment while reacting to the indictment of the Minister of State in charge of Finance, Mr Charles Adu Boahen in the latest expose’ by Tiger Eye’s Investigative Journalist, Anas Aremeyaw Anas and the Vice President’s response afterward.
Mr Adu Boahen was said to have revealed in the documentary premiered yesterday that the Vice President, Dr Mahamadu Bawumia, needs just USD200,000 token as an appearance fee and some positions for his siblings just to support the suppose businessman in Ghana.
Bawumia distance himself from Adu Buahen’s allegations in Galamsey Economy
The Vice President has subsequently distance himself from the said meeting and the allegations made.
But Mr Edudzi Tamakloe said the Vice President has no integrity hence his post should not be taking seriously.
