The Jaycris Education Centre in Takoradi, in the Western Region has held its 24th Graduation and Speech and Price Giving Day.

Three batches of students graduated comprising the Kindergarten 2 students who have been promoted to Basic One, Basic 6 students who have been promoted to J.H.S One and the candidates who participated in the 2023 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).

In total, 134 students participated in the graduation ceremony.

The Ghana Education Service Director in the Effia-Kwesimintsim Municipal Assembly (EKMA), Madam Catherine Andoh Mensah speaking at the event said there is a need for other stakeholders to collaborate and shoulder government to train children to a degree of acceptable standard.

She says educating a child begins at home and therefore families are the first educators and that is where the parents start the quality education of a child.

Madam Catherine Andoh said parents have a defined role to play which must be a prime concern.

She said, “All stakeholders of education must play their role diligently, especially parents must give children the needed quality education. Education starts from home and it is the duty of parents to take up the duty of administering the best education to their wards at home before teachers do their part.”

She added that parents must contribute to the development of the schools their wards are admitted to and also pay school fees on time to help in the day-to-day running of the school.

“Parents must help with developmental projects at schools, sometimes paying fees is not enough but also contributing to the construction of projects plays a major role in the education of children.”
