Jospong commissions Waste Water Treatment Plant at Assakae – Skyy Power FM

A € 20 million waste treatment plant has been commissioned at Assakae in the Effia Kwesimintsim municipality to help in the management of liquid waste in the Sekondi-Takoradi metropolis.

The thousand cubic meters PURECO plant which is a collaboration between the government of Ghana, the Jospong Group of companies and the government of Hungary are expected to help eliminate the indiscriminate disposal of liquid waste by improving wastewater quality before it is recycled, reused or discharged into the environment.

The Western Regional Minister, Dr Kwabena Okyere Darko Mensah, said that the new plant is in line with the government’s commitment to provide sustainable infrastructure for environmental sanitation and also to improve the health of the people.

He also stated that the Waste Water Treatment Plant will go a long way to support the already existing one and improve the environmental health of the city and decrease the health hazards caused by improperly treated sewage as well as other significant benefits.

The MCE for Effia-Kwesimintsim Municipal Assembly, Honourable Kojo Acquah at the commissioning also expressed his gratitude to the government, Jospong Group of companies and Nananom who gave out the land.

He made it known that the project will create employment, bring about development and generate revenue.

The Chief Executive Officer of the Jospong Group Of Companies, Dr Joseph Siaw Agyepong called on the general public to support Ghanaian businesses because Ghanaian businesses are capable of doing exploits.

He also reiterated that the project will create vast employment for the young people in the area.

Some residents of the Assakae community spoke to Skyy News on how the project will benefit them.

They said the plant will solve the sanitation problem, and provide the young people with employment which will also put a stop to theft and armed robbery in the community.
