Kobby Okyere Darko woos revellers to Western Region

To attract holiday revellers to the Region, the Chief Executives of the Effia-Kwesimintsim Municipality and the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolis, along with the Western Regional Minister, Mr. Kwabena Okyere Darko-Mensah, staged a symbolic gesture.

The Western Region’s Twin City was designated as a “Christmas City” in 2019 by the local government to connect all economic, tourist, and young talent marketing endeavours to the global community for mutual gain.

The program’s opening, which took place in three parts, started with a brief ceremony at the Sekondi College Junction. It then went on a test tour through European Town, along the Beach Road, to the Liberation and Ashanti roads, where the Westside Carnivals would take place. Finally, it concluded at the “Taadi Mall,” which is now the beating heart of the city.

According to the schedule, several events are planned to commemorate the Christmas City project. These include a three-day carnival on December 25 and 26, a showing of the Bahamas Carnival, and a 10-day business tour of the area. The programme is scheduled to start on December 19 and finish on January 2, 2019.

Later, the regional minister urged the locals to maintain some investments by projecting a positive image of the region.

Staff members of the Ghana Tourism Authority, representatives from the Western Regional Coordinating Council, Takoradi Mall, STMA, EKMA, and Sekondi College students observed the symbolic event.
