‘Ku Me Preko’ demonstrators hit streets of Accra to protest economic hardships



Today, November 5, the “Ku Me Preko Reloaded” demonstration has hit Accra’s main streets from the Obra Spot at the Kwame Nkrumah Circle.

Martin Kpebu, a private attorney, is the protest’s organizer and is calling for President Akufo-Addo to step down due to Ghana’s present economic difficulties.

The President and his government, according to some civil society organizations like #FixTheCountry, Arise Ghana, Economic Fighters League, and other activists, have not done enough to ease the burden of citizens in the faltering economy. These organizations have joined the protestors.

Martin Kpebu remarked in a media interview before the protest that the economy’s mismanagement and blatant corruption are clear signs that Ghanaians cannot wait till Mr. Akufo-four-year Addo’s mandate is up.

He asserted that following today’s demonstration, the president and his vice president should step down from their positions in order to trigger the constitutional process that will elect his successor.
