The Paramount Chief of Upper Dixcove, Obrempon Hima Dekyi XIV is calling on the people of the Western Region to champion the cause of having a president from the region in the near future.

Speaking to Skyy News on the sidelines of the Western Regional Development Forum, Obrempon Hima Dekyi says the Western Region have the men and since the reign of Dr Kwame Nkrumah, there has not been any leader to come out from the region.

He says he believes the two political parties in the region can unite for the success of this cause which he believes will lead to massive development in the region.

“Let’s come together and actually champion the cause of one or two persons for them to also become the first gentlemen of the man… There is an adage which says ‘if I have my brother sitting on top of the guava tree, there is not in any way I will eat an unripe guava’, so it’s about time the people of the Western Region come together to find a leader who can represent.”

“This has got nothing to do with politics or partisan issues, the dream of our forefathers lives in us, we need people to actually drive this dream.”

He said one of the reasons development has stalled in the region is a result of disunity among chiefs which he called for unity among them.
