Let's inculcate in children the spirit of patriotism

The Municipal Chief Executive of the Effia Kwesimintsim Municipal Assembly, Mr Kojo Acquah says teachers must teach a democratic spirit in all learners to be responsible adults in the future.

He said this education must start from the early grade as these children would not depart from patriotism when they grow up.

The MCE made these remarks at the Pre-Independence Day Celebration for Kindergarten (KG) schools in EKMA under the theme: “Developing Democratic Spirit in Early Grade Learners.”

He said, ‘We must inculcate in them the spirit of patriotism so that when they grow up, it will not depart from them, they are our future leaders and if we want to have a very productive and developed country, it depends on what we teach our children today.”

Mr Kojo Acquah added that early grader education must go beyond teaching core skills by introducing democratic and patriotic values early to empower children to think critically and actively in decision-making.

The Education Director at EKMA, Madam Kate Biney indicated that the event’s purpose is to instill the Ghanaian culture in them and a spirit of patriotism and contribute their quota to the development of Ghana.

“We want our future leaders to be critical thinkers and help in decision-making on critical issues,” She said.
