Motorists call for Ahenkofi bypass to be rehabilitated – Skyy Power FM
The feeder road that leads to Ketan junction unto the Ketan-Sekondi main road has been left to deteriorate for ages.
When Skyy News caught up with some of the drivers, they narrated that, the road has been in existence for a long time but had not undergone any rehabilitation.
According to them, the road can best serve as an alternate route for drivers who drive to Sekondi, because sometimes the Takoradi to Cape Coast main road which passes through Kojokrom gets jammed and it makes it impossible for them to reach their destination on time, especially in the morning, “we are supposed to use the main road but because of the traffic in the morning we have to use the bypass for the sake of students going to school and workers going to work”, one driver said.
They also described the road as the best emergency route should any unfortunate incident happen on the main road. One driver narrated an incident a year back where he said “Some time back, an incident happened on the main road and that is when the people realized the importance of the road”.
They are therefore appealing to the government to help rehabilitate the road for it to serve its purpose.
Some traders also spoke about the challenges they face at the station.
According to them, the station is yet to be completed and that has made it difficult for the drivers and traders to get shelter, “it is getting to two years and the construction is delaying. Passengers, traders and drivers have nowhere to stand when it’s raining and we traders will have to stand in the rain and sell”.
This has compelled them to mount canopies that do not even survive when it rains.
They are thus calling on the city authorities to hasten the construction of the station.
