Mpohor constituency organises colourful delegates conference with surprises

The NPP in Mpohor Constituency experienced its ever colourful Annual Delegates Conference on Saturday, May 1, at their Social Centre.

The event was organized and monitored by a national representative in the party in the presence of a former District Chief Executive for Wassa East ( Hon Wilson Arthur), a regional representative (Patriot Dominic Rex Jonfiah) assistant regional secretary for the party.

In attendance were the Member of Parliament (MP) for the constituency (Hon Kobina Abban Aboah Sanie), Hon Ignatius Asaah Mensah (DCE), Hon Anthony Evans Amoah ( former MP – Mpohor), Hon Alex Agyekum (former MP – Mpohor), Hon Samuel Erickson Abakah ( Shama constituency MP) and Dr Prince Hamid Armah (Kwesimintim constituency MP)

The conference was delayed off time from 9:00 am which was scheduled by the organizers to 12:08 pm due to scattered communities in the Constituency making the delegates not report on time.

However, after the incumbent chairman’s speech and the secretary’s speech, the delegates quickly called on the leaders to get the treasurer on board to also account since it is mandatory according to their guidelines in the conference.

The funniest thing was that the treasurer who was seeking re-election in the presence of Madam Grace Acheampong was nowhere to be found.

After thirty minutes she availed herself to be accounted for. She emphasized that the party money is being controlled by the financial secretary whilst the few on here are being sent to funeral, purchasing of party land and repairing of party card at Kokompe.

However, the election was seen with two major factions, (The MPS team and incumbent chairman Razak team)

Mpohor constituency has thirteen electoral areas, sixty-nine polling stations, five patrons and five councils of elders.
After so many hours, the election was closed at exactly 4:13 pm.

The sorting and counting come with surprises. The incumbent chairman (Razak Ekow Nkansah) whipped the MPS candidate of two hundred and twenty-two 222 against One hundred and seventy-seven 177.

Isaac Awotwe, the MPS candidate also won Razak candidate of two hundred and twenty-three (223) against One hundred and seventy-four (174).

The treasurer who was called to be accounted for by some delegates also lost to the MPS candidate (Frank Nkrumah) with one hundred and thirty-eight (138) against two hundred and sixty-one (261).

Another crucial context was the woman organizer race. The three terms served women, organizer, from the MPS camp who was seeking re-election was whipped by a young lady called Sabina Hayford Effah with two hundred and eighty 280 against One hundred and eighteen 118 votes.
