Mpohor District to get solar powered and ATM pipe water system
The Member of Parliament for Mpohor Constituency, Mr John Aboah Sanie says a fully optimized pipe water system cum sources, which include innovations for solar power, prepaid meters and water ATMs will be set up.
He said the project’s proposal was successfully approved by the CWSA and partners by the Conrad Hilton Foundation and is aimed at constructing modernised portable water for the people of Mpohor.
In a post on his Facebook page, the MP said below:
“Earlier today, 26-4-22, I led the Hon. DCE and some officers from the Mpohor District Assembly in receiving a high powered delegation from the Community Water and Sanitation Agency (CWSA).
The delegation was led by Agency’s CEO – Ing. Dr Kojo Worlanyo Siabi (MV), Director of Planning & Investment – Mr Ibrahim Adorkor, and Western Regional Director – Ing. Henry Franklin Asangbah.
The purpose of the team’s visit to Mpohor, Western Region, follows my effective and proactive liaison with the agency over the past few months, which has resulted in an impending implementation of the Rural Water Utilization Project (R-WUP) in the Mpohor District.
The project’s proposal was successfully approved by the CWSA and partners by the Conrad Hilton Foundation and is aimed at the construction of fully optimized pipe water systems cum sources, which includes innovations for solar power, prepaid meters and water ATMs.
The project has the potential for water connections and supply of safe water services to households, institutions and industries within the Mpohor District. After its completion, the project will be supervised and managed by the CWSA, with support from Development partners such as the IRC Ghana, Safe Water Network and the Water and Sanitation for Urban Poor, as part of the approved water and sanitation reforms toward well preserved, protected and sustainable water systems by the Government of Ghana.
As part of the day’s activities, the CWSA delegation was led to pay a courtesy call on the Hon.
Western Regional Minister – Hon. Kwabena Okyere Darko Mensah, as well as the Omanhene of the Mpohor Traditional Council – Osabarima Kwaw Entsie II respectively; to brief them on the scope, duration and intended impact of the project in the Mpohor District, and the Western Region at large.
Subsequently, the team toured the project location for a first-hand impression and assessment of the area beforehand.
We are grateful to the Government of Ghana led by H.E. Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, the Hon. Minister for Water and Sanitation – Hon. Cecilia Abena Dapaah, as well as the CWSA for the massive support and cooperation which will enable us to permanently tackle the perennial water problems that the Mpohor District has had to contend with over the years.”
