NDC Parliamentary Elections:  Emelia Arthur, Dr Grace Ayensu Danquah, Lawyer Blay, Dr Okumi Andoh to win the contest in their respective constituencies

The political desk of skyypowerfm.com is tipping Emelia Arthur in the Shama Constituency, Dr. Emmanuel Okumi Andoh in the Ahanta West Constituency, Lawyer Nyamekye Armah Blay in the Sekondi Constituency and Dr. Grace Ayensu Danquah to win the 13th May 2023 NDC parliamentary primaries in their various constituencies in the Western Region.

Following the intends internal political campaign currently ongoing in thirteen constituencies out of the seventeen earmarked to participate in the upcoming NDC parliamentary and presidential primaries in the Western Region, some six candidates from Shama, Ahanta West, Sekondi, Essikado-Keten, Takoradi and the Jomoro constituencies respectively are in a comfortable lead to win with about 70% of the vote whiles it is a close-call for candidates in three constituencies namely the Amenfie Central, Amenfie West and Effia.

Shama

Out of the four candidates in the Shama Constituency namely Emelia Arthur, Kofi Sadik Baidoo, Gabriel Kodow Essilfie and Mr Eric Cobbinah a deep-throat source from the delegates in the Shama Constituency, Emelia Arthur will win the contest with about 70% of the vote to become NDC’s Parliamentary Candidate for the Shama Constituency in the 2024 general elections.

According to the delegate in Shama, Madam Emelia Arthur is the obvious choice to help the NDC salvaged the seat from ruling NPP that notwithstanding her message of building a united and strong NDC party in the Shama constituency as well as focusing on community development is one that has been well received by the delegates in the constituency.

Though the former Member of Parliament, Gabriel Kodow Essilfie initially was pulling some strings with the message of continuing projects he initiated that has been stalled by the NPP government, the delegates remain resolute to throw their support behind Emelia Arthur to win the Shama seat for NDC.

Sekondi

One of the fierce contests in this NDC parliamentary primaries is between Mr Samuel Bissah and Lawyer Nyamekye Armah Blay in the Sekondi Constituency.

Unlike before, this is first time in about 20 years two prominent persons have put themselves up to lead the NDC in the Sekondi Constituency to elections and it become a difficult task for the delegate to decide. Yet the delegate says that their campaign message has separated the boys from the men and that they will be giving Lawyer Nyamekye Armah Blay a resounding victory with about 75% of the vote.

Delegates from the nine electoral areas in the Sekondi constituency told Skyypowerfm.com that apart from the fact that lawyer is solidly in touch with the grassroot constituent in Sekondi he is also approachable and accessible by all.

His youth development policy through TVET to ensure that the youth in the constituency acquires hands-on skills training in auto mechanic, welding, architecture draftsmanship, electrical engineering, fashion designing and hair stylist as well the idea to facilitate and make a conscious effort get to support brilliant but needy student in Sekondi has been well resonated so well with the delegates.

Essikado-Keten

The content in Essikado-Keten is a done-deal for Dr. Grace Ayensu Danquah the 2020 parliamentary candidate for the NDC.

Though most of the constituency executives in Essikado-Keten are believed to be the solid force behind the candidature of Dr Kobina Sabastian Spio Garbrah who initially was becoming a force to give Dr Grace Ayensu Danquah run for her money in the parliamentary primaries has suddenly turned to be otherwise.

In Essikado-Keten, it is the larger constituents including floating voters that are calling on the NDC delegates not to change Dr Grace Ayensu Danquah if they really want to win the Essikado-Keten parliamentary seat from the NPP.

Considering the strives Dr Grace Ayensu Danquah pulled in the 2020 general elections closing the vote difference between the NPP and the NDC from 14,412 in 2016 to 24,527 in 2020 the first time she contested the NPP’s Lawyer Joe Ghartey it will be to the party’s advantage to maintain her as the 2024 parliamentary candidate for the constituency.

This message from the grassroot NDC and the general public has been well received by the delegates and with almost 24 hours into the contest skyypowerfm.com can confidently say that Dr Grace Ayensu Danquah will win the contest with about 80% of the vote.

Ahanta West

Just like the Essikado-Keten Constituency, Dr. Emmanuel Okumi Andoh who was the NDC party’s 2020 parliamentary candidate for the Ahanta West Constituency will win the parliamentary primaries with about 70% of the vote.

“Home Boy” as he is widely referred to, Dr Okumi Andoh has strong ties with the constituency more than his close contender Mavis Kuukua Bissue who is making an entry hoping to beat Dr. Okumi Andoh in this election but the delegates say they have firmly decided to let Dr Emmanuel Okumi Andoh lead the party to parliamentary in 2025.

The obvious choice for the NDC in the Ahanta West constituency Dr Emmanuel Okumi Andoh managed to close the vote margin from 13,784 in 2016 to 23,957 in the 2020 general elections and promises to win the seat for the NDC this time.

In the Jomoro Constituency our findings point to the fact that the incumbent member of parliament, Dorcas Toffey will win with 85% of the vote.

In the Amenfie Central Constituency it is a close call between the incumbent member of parliament, Peter Yaw Kwakye-Ackah and business woman Joana Gyan Cudjoe.

Our finding points to the fact that Joana Gyan Cudjoe is slightly leading the race but the party parliamentary caucus is also vigorously rooting for the delegate to retain Peter Yaw Kwakye-Ackah.

The NCD through its regional chairman has indicated that the NDC will be wining some more seats from the NPP in the western region whiles it retains it seats in parliament. The 13th May 2023 parliamentary and presidential primaries is the first step to send the signals to Ghanaians that indeed the NDC is either ready for power come 2024 or not.
