The focal person for the Local Accountability Network has bemoaned the Central government’s decision to exclude the district assemblies from some ongoing projects in their jurisdiction.
Mr Ebo Barker, speaking at a Ghana Anti Corruption Coalition (GACC) stakeholders engagement said he was surprised to learn that, some district assemblies had no involvement in the construction of some projects in their area.
This comes after they were tasked to monitor and investigate the development of all African Petroleum Oil projects ongoing in the Western and Central Regions.
He said this shows there is no transparency in the oil money projects.
“The findings so far have been very poor because the oil money is Ghana’s money, not for the government but the person who is representing the government in the area these projects are being constructed has no idea then it means there is no transparency and accountability,” he added.
He, therefore, urged the government to involve the assembly in African Petroleum oil projects so the citizens can get information from the assembly when needed.
