Over 27,000 Ghana cards in backlog finally printed, come for them – NIA calls – Skyy Power FM
The Western Regional Director of the National Identification Authority (NIA) is urging Ghanaians yet to receive their Ghana Cards to go for them after all backlogs have been printed.
Speaking exclusively on Skyy Power FM’s Jolly Breakfast Show on Wednesday, April 5, Mr Enoch Ben Sackey said over 27,435 Ghana Cards that were in backlogs have been printed and are issuing them at all the NIA district offices.
He added that those whose cards are still not ready may be due to double registration.
He said, “We have cleared all the backlogs from our system, those who may not receive their Ghana card are those who did double registration, they registered at one centre and went ahead to register at another centre which is an offence… that is the reason some are yet to receive their Ghana card.”
He said the Ghana Cards are available at all Districts offices and people should find out the area they registered and the District it falls under.
He said, “We did the mass registrations at electoral areas and every electoral area falls under a district. For example, if you did your registration at the Chapel Hill electoral area, then you have to go to the Takoradi district office for your card… If you did yours at Nkotompo, then you go to the Sekondi district office for your card.”
Mr Ben Sackey said Ghanaians who are currently going for their Ghana Cards should not pay monies to any NIA staff.
“You don’t have to pay any money to any NIA officer when going for your card, even if you are a new applicant doing your Ghana card today, you still don’t have to pay any money.”
“The only time you pay money is when opting for premium service which is GHS280, replacement and update at the district office, you will pay GHS34.50 and at the premium centre you will pay GH110 and you will pay at the bank and present the receipt at the NIA office.”
