President revokes appointment of Adu Boahen

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has terminated the appointment of Mr Charles Adu Boahen, the Minister of State at the Ministry of Finance.

The revocation of the minister’s appointment, which takes immediate effect, follows allegations made against him in a yet-to-be-screened undercover expose dubbed “Galamsey Economy” by investigative journalist, Anas Aremeyaw Anas’ Tiger Eye PTI.

A statement issued by the communications directorate of the Presidency on Monday said the President had referred the matter to the Office of the Special Prosecutor for further investigations.

The statement said the President thanked the minister for his service to the government since his appointment in 20127 and wished him well in his future endeavours.

Mr Anas’ documentary screens today at the Accra International Conference Centre at 1600 hours.

But hours before the screening, the journalist posted on his Facebook wall indicting the minister for grandstanding and influence peddling.
