Residents in Sekondi-Takoradi share opinion on NPP Primaries

Concerned residents of the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolis have expressed conflicting opinions over the results of Saturday, January 27,’s New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary primaries.

Some voiced considerable disappointment, while others were happy with the results in all nine of the Western Region constituencies.

Newspaper vendor Mr Alex Cudjoe said that while he had expected fresh faces to represent the NPP in the Takoradi and Sekondi constituencies, that had not transpired.

“I am surprised at the delegates for retaining both Members of Parliament (MPs) for the Sekondi and Takoradi constituencies. we needed new people with fresh ideas for development,” he stated.

Food vendor Madam Ishatu Ocran expressed a similar opinion when she stated: “Other candidates need an opportunity to share their plans and visions for the good people of Takoradi and Sekondi.

The two female candidates running for the constituencies of Essikado-Ketan and Kwesimintsim, according to Mr John Mensah, a mobile money operator and supporter of the NPP, ought to have won so that they could try out fresh ideas to raise the living standards of those people.

He said: “It is high time we give our women the chance to also bring change and development we desire as a people.”

He did, however, express delight with the results of the polls in the Effia Constituency, where Mr Isaac Boarmah Nyarko, who will be a rookie MP if he wins the parliamentary election, defeated incumbent Mr Joseph Cudjoe in his effort to return to Parliament for a fourth term.
