Residents of Ntankoful concerned over poor sanitation in the community – Skyy Power FM
Concerns have been raised about the poor sanitation situation in the Ntankoful and Kansaworodo communities.
The situation is such that, some of the residents dispose of their waste anyhow making the community untidy, especially the market area.
Responding to these concerns on the Jolly Breakfast Show with Naomi Afriyie Nyanor, the assembly member of the Kansaworodo electoral area, Hon. Pascal Hagan attributed the situation to the behaviours of the residents and the market women.
According to him, some of the market women after selling, keep their garbage and dispose of it anywhere they please.
He added that initially there was no security in the market but together with the market women he has made an effort to get someone who will help protect their goods and also serve as a watch on those who do not dispose of their waste properly.
He further reiterated that things are underway to solve the problem but until the people put a stop to their bad attitudes, the situation will remain the same.
“Until we change our character, there is nothing the government can do to help us, imagine the government putting measures and system in place to curb this situation but the people are still going against the norm.. How are we going to be able to solve our issues.”
Honorable Pascal Hagan touching on the influx of children who are of school-going age but are always causing trouble in the community said that some of the children are on their own because they have left home. This he said gives them the liberty to be stubborn.
He also added that together with other community members they are doing their best to find a solution to stop the children from their stubborn ways.
