Sekondi Central Prisons begs for toilet facility

Management of the Sekondi Central Prisons is appealing to individuals and benevolent groups to support the prison with biogas digester toilet facilities to help address the toilet challenge at the prison.

Superintendent Ibrahim Yakubu who is in charge of Education at the Sekondi Central prisons made the call when Ghana Business Hub Logistics donated food, water and drinks to inmates at the Sekondi Prison.

Superintendent Ibrahim explained that though they have some toilet facilities in the prison yard, they are all in a dilapidated state. That notwithstanding, it always gets full so fast due to the number of inmates in the yard which he said is even way beyond the initial capacity of the Sekondi central prisons.

He, therefore, appealed to the general public to come to the aid of the Sekondi Prisons service with at least three biogas digester toilet facilities to help deal with that sanitation challenge confronting them.

According to him, inmates at the Sekondi Central prisons are given some skills training in sewing, carpentry, and welding among other TVET courses to help shape their life but the lack of machinery and equipment to facilitate these training he said is greatly hampering their effectiveness in reshaping the inmates.

Meanwhile the Chief Executive Officer for Ghana business hub logistics Mr Paul Elom Danko was grateful to the officers at the Sekondi central prisons for allowing them to express their love to the inmates by dining with them.
