Shama District celebrates its gallant farmers in style

The Shama District ahead of the National Farmers Day Celebration on 1st December 2023 celebrated its gallant farmers whose service provides families and societies with daily meals, feeds agro-processing factories with raw materials and provides the economy with foreign exchange through exports.

Speaking at the program, the member of Parliament for the Area (Hon Erickson Abekah) expressed his sincere gratitude to the farmers for always providing for the society. Interest in agriculture is on the rise with the investment and innovation this government has introduced, “let’s all get involved,” according to Hon Erickson Abekah (MP).

Speaking at the celebration under the theme “Delivering Smart Solutions for Sustainable Food Security and Resilience,” the District Chief Executive – Hon Ebenezer Dadzie Dadzie applauded his farmers for always being there for the general public.

Hon Dadzie said, there are challenges in farming but the government is trying its best to address them. He said there are many opportunities for farmers to enhance their work. He again appeals to them to desist from fishing malpractices.

Mr Joseph Nkum from Fawumanye was crowned the overall best farmer in the district. He used the opportunity to thank the assembly leaders for boosting agriculture in the area.
