STMA accumulates 95% of expected revenue in 2022 – Skyy Power FM

The Metropolitan Chief Executive for the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolitan Assembly says the total budgeted revenue for the year 2022 was GHS44,776,117.57p but the total actual revenue was GHS42,971,731.52p.

Speaking at at the First (1ST) Ordinary Meeting of The Fourth (4TH) Session of The Eight (8) General Assembly Meeting on Wednesday, April 26, Mr Abdul Issah indicated the actual revenue accumulated represented only 95.97% of the targeted revenue for the assembly.

He added that in the first quarter of 2022, the assembly received GHS480,000 from the District Assembly Command Fund same as the second quarter and in the third quarter the assembly received GHS44,000 and same as the fourth quarter.

Mr Mummin Said he was unable to present to you the Revenue and Expenditure Performance for the first quarter of 2023 following the introduction of a new system by the Ministry of Local Government, Decentralization and Rural Development, together with the Controller and Accountant General’s Department for the preparation of financial statements in line with Public Sector Accounting Standards.

He said, “The Finance Department is yet to fully migrate onto the new system. Once that is completed, it would allow the Budget and Rating Department access the necessary information to enable it prepare a revenue and expenditure performance report for the first quarter of 2023.”

As part of the assembly’s plan to reduce flood in the metropolis, Mr Abdul Issah Mumin said most of the drains in the Metropolis have been de-silted during the first quarter of the year.

Speaking on road construction, the MCE said that there is an ongoing construction of a bridge for Essaman community to enable residents have access to their various houses. It has become necessary for the construction of the bridge in order that should there be any emergency, access to the community would be easy. It is fully funded by the MP’s share of the District Assembly’s Common Fund (DACF).

He added that, S2J Enterprise, the contractor to carrying out the ground preparation and pavement of has moved to site and has since started with the site clearing. As at 31st March, 2023, all earthworks had been completed and excavation of trenches for drainage works also started. The expected completion date for the paving of the area for the traders is 8th May, 2023. However, the expected completion date for the entire project is 15th June, 2023.

Construction of PTC Interchange
Mr Mumin noted that as of 31st December, 2022, the PTC Interchange project had attained progress of 80% and the expected completion date was June 2023. However, the project has been suspended due to the IMF programme the Government is pursuing.

“We are eagerly looking forward to the resumption of the project after the IMF negotiations have been completed by the Government.” he added.
