STMA clears heap of rubbish at Market Circle after complaints from Skyy Power FM listeners

About concerns raised by the public about a heap of rubbish at the old police station at the market circle, the officer in charge of Waste Management at the Sekondi Sub-Metro Dorcas Quansah speaking on Skyy Power FM’s Jolly Breakfast Show has indicated that the workers responsible for the duty have been executing diligently but due to the use of manual tools, it takes a longer time before they can clear the garbage.

This comes after listeners of Skyy Power FM’s Jolly Breakfast Show indicated that they normally see heaps of rubbish at the then police station at Market Circle.

After several advocacies on Skyy’s morning show, the rubbish was cleared with swiftness.

She said, “The workers do their work as they should, but because they use manual tools and not fast machines, it takes time before they can clear the rubbish, for example, if they were using some advanced tools for their work, they could finish clearing the rubbish by 7 AM, but because it’s manual tools and they have to use Manpower, it takes time and it can take up to 10 AM before the work is done.”

“So we don’t leave the rubbish there to pile up but it only takes time before those responsible do their duty.”

Dorcas Quansah also advised against the dumping of refuse at unauthorized locations saying, “People have been intentionally dropping refuse in the central business district of Takoradi which is an offence. People intentionally take refuse from their houses and drop them at the business district, this is an offence and which we have taken notice of and will soon prosecute offenders.”
