STMA to go after scrap dealers over petty theft

The Metropolitan Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolitan Assembly (STMA) Mr Abdul Issah Mumin says the activities of scrap dealers in the metropolis are now a major concern.

The MCE said security issues in the Metropolis is relatively calm except for the usual cases of petty thefts.

He said the matter of concern lately has been with the activities of scrap dealers which are evolving into a menace and need to be addressed.

The MCE said, “The Assembly is taking steps to regularize the operations of scrap dealers whilst the police are also on the lookout to apprehend those engaged in illegal activities including the theft of electrical cables. Let us all be vigilant and support in this fight.”

He made these remarks at the Second Ordinary Meeting of the fourth session of the Eighth Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolitan Assembly on Tuesday, October 31.
