Support government with innovative ideas – WR Minister urges organised labour – Skyy Power FM
The Western Regional Minister and Member of Parliament for Takoradi Hon. Kwabena Okyere-Darko Mensah, is appealing to organized labour to support the government with innovative ideas to help build the country and also to see productivity as a responsibility to create and share.
He was speaking at the Western Region May Day Parade held at the Tarkwa Senior High School Park.
The Regional Minister used the occasion to assure trade unions that their pensions would not be touched by the government.
Hon. Okyere-Darko also advised the workers to have side jobs in addition to their main jobs to help them cope in these harsh economic times.
Hon. Benjamin Kessie, the Tarkwa-Nsuaem Municipal Chief Executive commended organized labour and its leadership for their valuable contribution in helping keep the country on its feet even in the face of the recent economic crisis.
Hon. Kessie also entreated Ghanaians to trust the government to roll out policies and programmes which would stabilize the economy and initiate a rapid recovery to further improve the lives of citizens.
Some of the unions present at the May Day celebration were NAGRAT, GNAT, GRA, GRIDCO, JUSAG, TEWU, ECG, MAXAM, SIC, GCB etc.
Some deserving workers were also awarded 43 inches Television sets and citations.
The theme for this year’s celebration is; Protecting incomes and pensions in an era of economic crisis; Our responsibility.
