Hon. Kwabena Okyere Darko-Mensah, MP for Takoradi and Western Regional Minister has appealed to investors to take full advantage of expansion works currently ongoing at the Port of Takoradi to invest in the Western Region, particularly, its capital of Sekondi-Takoradi.

Also under construction are a gas terminal and a fuel terminal to receive bigger fuel tankers.
According to Hon. Darko-Mensah, these investments at the Port of Takoradi are an intentional move from the Government to create more productivity and job opportunities for the people of the Western Region and Ghana.

“We know what we are about as a government, to create more productivity and job opportunities for the good people of Takoradi, and the Western Region and Ghana as a whole”, he said.

He explained that there are a good number of other terminals that are under construction, that when done, will situate the port to be more competitive.

He further encouraged investors to advantage of these factors and invest in the region, as it will be profitable.

“We will use this opportunity to appeal for more investment into the Western Region. Western Region contributes 50% of national GDP, what it means is that, when you bring your money to Western Region, you have access to 50% of Ghana’s money”, he added.
