A man believed to be in his 30s has been found dead in a gutter at condom road near GRIDCo offices in the Tamale Metropolis of the Northern Region.
The man whose identity is currently unknown was found in the early hours of Saturday July 16, with several marks on his face and back.
Many people understands the man may have been beaten to death by his attackers and later dumped in the area.
Assemblyman for Gumbihini Electoral Area, Haruna Mashud, in an interview with Alhassan Yakubu of Diamond, stated that, “I got to know that someone was lying dead at condom road near GRIDCo offices through a distressed call from a community member who went there for their usual football training in the early morning of Saturday. I noticed upon reaching the crime scene that there were some marks on his face and his back.”
“And so, I informed the police after covering the body with some leafs. I don’t think he is from this community because nobody recognizes him”, he added.
According to an Eyewitnesses in the community, the discovery of the body sparked fear and panic among residents in the area.
Blood was oozing from the mouth of the deceased, whose identity is still unknown, when the police were inspecting the body.
The police have since conveyed the body to the Tamale Teaching Hospital (TTH) for preservation and autopsy.
