VRA holds career session and ICT boot camp at Ahantaman Girls SHS – Skyy Power FM

A career session and ICT boot camp have been held at the Ahantaman Girls Senior High School by the Volta River Authority (VRA).

This was part of the social corporate responsibility of the company to give back to society. The forum is to also encourage girls to partake in science and IT courses at the tertiary level.

Speaking at the sidelines of the event, the headmistress for Ahantaman Girls Senior High School, Mrs Ernestina Kankam, stated that they’re very grateful for such a forum from VRA and that it will go a long way to help the students to be able to study science courses in the university.

Mrs Ernestina Kankam explained that most of the girls are scared of applying for science courses at the tertiary level and this forum will put an end to their fear because they get to meet people in the field of sciences in the community.

“We are grateful for VRA choosing our school to hold this program, it will go a long way to impact and empower the girls as we believe it will drive them to take careers in male-dominated fields.”

Mr Sam Kwesi Fletcher, the Manager for the Cooperate Affairs at VRA also stated that it’s important to encourage girls to take part in science and IT courses to be able to be part of the engineering world. He further explained that the forum is also to help them understand the good sides of the IT world.
