West African Soldiers Social Activity (WASSA) celebrated impact

The Northern Command of the Ghana Arm Force (GAF) has held it’s annual end of year get together to celebrate the effort of the West African Soldiers Social Activity (WASSA) on 26 January, 2024.

The event brought together stakeholders, families and friends among other distinguished guest to celebrate the Centre’s achievements whilst taking stock of the previous year, and made good projections to do better in the year ahead.

In a brief remarks, the Command Operations Officer Colonel Franklyn Worlanyo Kwasi Agbebo speaking on behalf of the General Officer Commanding Northern Command, Brigadier General Matthew Kweku Essien commended the confidence exhibited by troops in the front lines along the Northern borders within the Command’s Area of Responsibility during the past year.

Colonel Agbebo also extended his appreciation to all sponsors and partners of the Command for their contribution and support over the period.

He said that WASSA was a time to take stock and reflect on the achievements, and challenges and set new targets for the coming year.

He commended personnel for their commitment, dedication, and hard work throughout the year.

The Paramount Chief of Sagnarigu, Ambassador Yakubu Abdulai lauded the Ghana Arm Force for their contribution towards the maintenance of peace and protection of the northern borders.

“I keenly noticed and followed the contributions and efforts of the Northern Command in maintaining and ensuring peace and stability in the 5 Northern Regions, you people deserve commendation,” he said.

Ambassador Abdulai said that the troops of Northern Command are ready to protect the northern borders saying that they are resilience and fortitude to stand up any time to deal with any suspicion of terrorism that arose.

He added that the recent donation of armored vehicles and ambulances by the European Union and the United Kingdom would go a long way to enhance the effectiveness of operations.

He used the opportunity to called on the Regional Security Council to empower the state agencies to get more involved in the anti-drug initiatives that have plagued the region in recent times assuring them of the support of the Chiefs and traditional authorities.
