Western Region marks National Chocolate Day

The Western Regional Director of the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA), Me Henry Yeledour is urging Ghanaians to spread love by patronising and sharing chocolate on this Day of 14th February, also known as Valentine’s Day.

Mr Yeledour said this is an initiative by the authority to change the narrative for Valentine’s Day and instead of it being a day where couples engage in sex.

He made this statement when the GTA marked National Chocolate Day under the theme “Eat Chocolate, Stay Healthy, Grow Ghana” with the subtheme: “Explore Ghana, Eat Chocolate in partnership with the Bisa Abrewa Museum and the Kow Nketsia AME Zion Junior High School.

He said, “We are using today to show love to our friends and family. Cocoa has very good nutritional values in terms of boosting the immune system including the cocoa drinks.”

“Cocoa is also one of Ghana’s major products in terms of its contribution to GDP, together with Ghana Cocoa Board we are trying to reach out to people to use chocolate to show love.”

“We want to also talk people’s minds out from the sexual aspect of this occasion hence the initiative to use chocolate to show love to people.”
