Western Region needs visionary leaders for development- Kennedy Agyapong

Aspiring Presidential flagbearer for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mr Kennedy Agyapong says the reason the Western Region is underdeveloped is because its leaders are not visionary enough.

The Member of Parliament (MP) for Assin Central Constituency speaking on Skyy Power 93.5FM on Friday, October 13, ahead of his Show Down Walk campaign said the region been the bread basket of the country needs to be in a better state than it is now.

He says, that about 60% of the country’s natural resources are produced in the Western Region and if the region had visionary leaders, they would capitalise on these resources to develop the region.

Mr Agyapong indicated that he was appalled by the current state of the Western Region upon his visit.

He made mention of the current state of roads, infrastructure, and the whole atmosphere he experienced, indicating that the region deserves better and he will change things if he is elected as president.

He said, “We need to move this region, and if you want to move this region, respectfully, the kind of leaders you have here are the wrong ones. when it comes to development.”

“They don’t understand development and when I am elected president, I will elect visionary leaders from the region to lead and take charge of development.”

Mr Agyapong added that he will industrialise Sekondi-Takoradi and the whole of the Western Region through it natural resources like how other international countries are doing with fewer resources than the region.
