WR NPP Secretary appeals to technocrats to continue work despite absence of mayor



The Western Regional Secretary of the NPP Okatakyie Amankwaa Afrifa has appealed to technocrats at the Sekondi Takoradi Metropolitan Assembly to continue to do their job despite the absence of the mayor.

Assembly members are calling on the President to reinstate the embattled mayor Hon Abdul Mumin as he continues dealing with his case in court.

He said though the assembly is in difficult times the coordinating director is there to see to the day-to-day running of the assembly supervised by the Regional Minister who is acting as mayor.

He refuted claims that activities at the assembly have stalled due to the absence of a mayor.

Okatakyie Amankwaa Afrifa said the government can’t appoint a new mayor neither can it let Hon. Mumin continue as MCE while he is in court due to the complexity of the legal aspects surrounding the issue and he called on the department heads at the assembly not to shun their core mandate due to the absence of a mayor.
