Abronye Stresses on Non-Negotiable Need to recapture Bono Region Seats
The Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Bono Region, Mr. Julius Kwame Baffoe Abronye, has emphasized the significance of the upcoming NPP parliamentary primaries in determining the party’s success in the region.
He stated that the recapture of lost seats and the retention of currently held parliamentary seats will hinge on the decision made by delegates on Saturday, January 27th.
In an exclusive interview in Sunyani ahead of the elections, Chairman Abronye stressed the importance of making a wise choice to maintain all six seats and secure additional seats currently held by the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
He specifically highlighted the non-negotiable nature of maintaining and recapturing six seats, particularly in Wenchi, Jaman South, and North, underscoring that the delegates’ decision will shape the realization of their aspirations.
While acknowledging the qualifications of all aspirants vetted by the committee, he expressed the need for one candidate to stand out and effectively maintain the seat for the party.
He called for unity and peace as they prepare to elect leaders, urging aspirants to adhere to the party’s ethics and ensure that their supporters do not incite trouble before, during, or after the elections.
Chairman Abronye also emphasized the importance of security personnel conducting themselves appropriately at various centers to maintain peace without overstepping their mandate.
Notably, twelve parliamentary aspirants are contesting in five constituencies in the Bono Region, with varying numbers of aspirants in each constituency.
While Mr. Paul Twum Barimah, the incumbent Member of Parliament for Dormaa East, is running unopposed due to no contestant filing against him at the close of nominations, an unresolved legal issue has put the Sunyani East constituency election on hold pending a court decision.
The NPP leadership has scheduled Saturday, January 27, 2024, for the party’s parliamentary primaries to elect candidates in constituencies with sitting members of parliament for the 2024 Election.
Chairman Kwame Abronye emphasized the critical nature of this exercise for the region, stating that victory in 2024 largely depends on how they conduct themselves.
