Ada-East Assembly Members Receive Motorbikes
A total of 39 Assembly Members in the Ada-East District have been given a motorbike each to facilitate their work in the respective electoral areas.
Handing over the motorbikes to the Presiding Member, Mr Godwin Agudey for onward distribution, Ms Sarah, Dugbakie Pobee Ada-East District Chief Executive praised the government for resourcing the Assembly to deliver.
She said the motorbikes were procured by the Government through the Ministry of Local Government, Decentralisation, and Rural Development for distribution to assembly members.
Ms Pobee said the motorbikes would enable the members get closer to electorates even in the remote areas to address challenges in their respective communities as soon as possible.
She cautioned the Assembly members not to sell the motorbikes as there would be monitoring and supervision to ensure that any member who sold the motorbike would face the necessary punishment.
Ms Pobee told the Assembly members that the motorbikes given to them were to ensure that each member met the residents in their electoral areas to discuss issues of development for the district.
“Local governance is meeting the people at their doorsteps not the people meeting you, so we are monitoring it, when you sell it and you’re caught you’ll be held responsible,” the DCE said.
Meanwhile, the Assembly had earlier given 43 wheelchairs and nine white canes to the people living with disability (PWDs) in the district.
Out of the 43 wheelchairs, 35 were given to some selected PWDs while seven pieces were given to the Health Directorate and one given to Radio Ada to support their movement to the station.
