Assembly launches four-year development plan to transform Ningo Prampram

The Ningo Prampram District Assembly (NiPDA) in the Greater Accra Region has outlined a four-year Medium Term Development Plan (MTDP) to help develop the district.

NiPDA said it had conducted needs assessments in all the localities to enable it plan and alleviate the challenges of residents.

During the assessment in 2021, the district identified that residents lacked access to basic healthcare, had poor road network, and drainage system, high crime rates, frequent flooding, low and frequent power outage, higher level of unemployment, and poor living conditions for the less privileged and aged

There was also the low performance of students, poor sanitation including open defecation, waste management, and many others.

Speaking during a community forum at Prampram organised to explain the operations of the assembly, Ms. Zubaida Damago, the Development Planning Officer for NiPDA, said the four-year development plan would extensively transform the district by 2025.

She said, the NiPDA Medium Term Development Plan (MTDP 2022 – 2025) formed part of the implementation of the Long-Term National Development Policy Framework which was expected to span from 2018 to 2057.

This, she said, would improve access to healthcare, rehabilitate the entire road network, improve the environmental situation, construct storm drains, and improve the security situation.

It also seeks to enhance access to social support systems and improve power supply, demolish structures on waterways, create employment for the youth and improve teaching and learning in schools.

“The activities under the medium-term plans were arranged into annual action plans to give meaning to the scheduling process of the plan preparations in order of urgency,” she said.

The NiPDA Development Planning Officer explained that the plan was geared toward the effective improvement of the socio-economic well-being of the residents, provide quality, and accessible education for all.

Ms. Damago outlined major expected outcomes as the increase in the Internally Generated Fund of the District and an increment in enrolment at the basic school level.

It would also increase crop and animal production, an improved land area planned, access to high-level health services, access to sanitation, and enhanced stakeholder participation in the operations of the assembly.
