First female DCE in Guan District pledges open administration
The Guan District in the Oti region has elected Madam Janet Emefa Obro- Adibo, as District Chief Executive (DCE), to replace Mr Marlon Anipa, the first DCE, who died days after assuming office.
Madam Obro- Adibo polled 17 out of the 19 valid ballots cast.
In a speech after her confirmation and swearing-in, she called for all hands-on deck to work for the needs of the four traditional areas in the district.
She noted that the needs of the districts had to be prioritised as she stressed wider consultations to execute the task expected of her and pledged to consult the traditional leaders, clergy and all to be able to serve.
Until she became the DCE, she was Oti Regional Secretary of the New Patriotic Party and an educationist.
Mr Joseph G. Makubu, Oti Regional Minister, said the newly DCE must work with all people who she might not have met and must be ready to accommodate them and collaborate with all especially Assembly members towards development.
He was however not happy with some media reportage about the Guan enclave adding that the underdevelopment of the Guan district existed when it was still under the Hohoe Municipality and the Volta region.
Mr Makubu noted that there were some positive developments ongoing in the district to enhance development.
Mr Kenneth Bright Norviewu, the Presiding Member, expressed the hope that the new DCE would run an all-embracing administration, work in harmony with all members, traditional leaders, Heads of decentralized departments and development partners to make Guan the best among equals.
