Mahama Calls Off Tour To Madina Over Unresolved Conflict Among Party Supporters

The planned courtesy call by the flag bearer of NDC, John Dramani Mahama, on the chiefs and Muslims clerics of Madina has been called off days before the proposed date. The visit was scheduled to come on the 13th of February 2024.

As part of his Building Ghana Tour, John Dramani Mahama is scheduled to engage the traditional authorities and religious leaders during the visit to revitalize NDC’s renewed agenda for the nation in preparation for the 2024 presidential campaign.

He will, among other things, interact with current and past constituency leadership of the party, as well as other selected veteran politicians to ensure a unified message and a united front. Unfortunately, the Madina NDC is in total confusion, both present and past leadership as well as the range and file of the party base over the poor leadership style of the Madina Mp who just returned from United States of America after he has cooled off over there for over three months.

A member of the planning committee of the Building Ghana Tour, who wished to remain anonymous, disclosed that the planned visit was canceled due to technical and security concerns.

“We expected the current impasse between the MP and some NDC faithfuls to be resolved before Mahama’s visit to the constituency. Unfortunately, the absence of the MP for all this while made all efforts for amicable resolution unsuccessful”: he confessed.

“We were compelled to call it off to avoid meeting a divided constituency and suffer a hostile reception”: he remarked.

“The committee, therefore, made an alternative arrangement to shift the tour to another constituency with a similar social setting and cosmopolitan outlook, like Fadama, Ashiama, Nima, etc. According to him, these areas I mentioned are more than ready for power. The leadership of the party in these areas are in full spirit for us to capture power, hence the relocation of the visit”.
A call to the Madina Constituency executive who was part of the organizing team for the plane visit name withheld on why the meeting is not coming on in Madina but Fadama ? He said,” I have no idea, but I will not be surprised if it has to do with the tension and confusion within the NDC in Madina. You know the old boy (John Dramani Mahama) wants a united party not a divided one so, what is happening in Madina I know he will not be happy”.
