A Member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC)’s Communication team, Mr Elikem Kotoko has slammed the country’s Minister of Gender, Children and Social Protection, Ms Sarah Adwoa Safo for going incommunicado on the Salaga sodomy case.
According to him, any minister in her position would have release a statement to sympathize with the victims adding ” I am sorry to say that not only is she a square peg in a round hole…..”
“Let even say that it is not true, it was false, let assume and you think the gender minister silence is something to be proud of. Johnnie mentions that they need psychological support they need all the various support. We expect her to even put out a release and even give out guideline that look as a ministry responsible for this we will take A, B, C, D action to order to ensure A, B, C, B and that is what a responsible minister will do and if you are here defending her definite silence then I am scandalize because I am sorry to say that not only is she a square peg in round hole”.
Mr Kotoko was speaking on TV3 NewDay on Tuesday, October 5 monitored by GhanaPlus.com.
He said the Gender Ministry had no excuse to be silent over the abuse of the 19 children.
Where is our Gender Minister
“The question that begs to be answered is where is our Gender Minister?… I think we are having too many square begs in round hole and they don’t want to be told what exactly what they are. Since that happened I have not heard from Madam Adwoa Safo,” he said”.
“Government can’t also shirk her responsibility with reference to this because at the mention of such matter there is a sector minister that is responsible for this. There is a deputy minister that is actually in her place even if she is on maternity or what have you so there is no excuse for the definite silent from their end and from all other stakeholders”
