Vida Essel-LampteyThe Savanna Regional Communication’s Officer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr Malik Basintale has said the former President and 2020 flag bearer of the party had a triumphant entry into the Ashanti Region during his two-day thank you tour in the region.
According to him, the rousing welcome accorded them by the people of the NPP dominant region was something the party had never experienced since its establishment adding they even called him ‘agenkwa’, to wit, the savior.
“What the NDC and ex President Mahama’s experience during the tour was something the party in the Ashanti Region have never seen before….. I think that communities that in the past the NDC could not even pass; we could not even use the convoy there, very indigenous Ashanti, typical NPP communities received as very well”.
“There were people who stood by the road side and wave and there is a name they kept calling him, ‘agyenkwa’, I don’t know what it means, they said agenkwa, agyenkwa na aba, agenkwa na aba, agenkwa na aba and they kept cheering him on, they kept saying it, agyenkwa na aba and you could see them cheering him on and people stood by the road and people attempted to throw their cloth and it was like a triumphant entry of John Mahama into the Ashanti Region”.
Mr Basintale made the comment on TV3 NewDay, monitored by GhanaPlus.com on Wednesday, September 15.
He said the development was a positive indication the people were fed up with the NPP government adding “it is had never happened that some typical NPP communities in the Ashanti region received as in the way did two days ago”
“We are very positive that indeed ‘agenkwa’ no has come”.
