Support Builds for Mubarik Abdullah Ciessey in Sunyani West Political Landscape
Mr. Abdul Samad Nurudeen, a member of Mubarik Abdullah Ciessey’s Campaign Team, has passionately expressed his belief that the time has arrived for a dynamic and enterprising young leader like Mubarik Abdullah Ciessey to take charge of the political landscape in the Sunyani West constituency.
During a radio discussion in Sunyani, Mr. Samad Nurudeen asserted that the incumbent MP, Hon. Baffour Awuah, has made his contribution, but it is now essential to infuse new energy into the political environment of the constituency.
He emphasized Ciessey’s understanding of the needs of the youth at both the party level and within the constituency, highlighting his potential to advocate for the aspirations of the constituency at the government level.
He pointed out the challenges faced by the constituency, including widespread poverty, deplorable road networks, lack of employment opportunities for the youth, and a perceived disconnect between the party and the MP’s office. Mr. Nurudeen firmly believes that Mubarik Abdullah Ciessey is poised to rescue the constituency from these issues and elevate it to a more promising position.
He questioned why other areas witness visible projects and ongoing developments, with farmers receiving education and support to leverage agricultural policies for their benefit, while youth in other constituencies are nurtured and empowered through various programs. In contrast, Mr. Nurudeen lamented that Sunyani West faces a different reality, with party members feeling neglected despite their contributions to bringing the party into power.
Samad Nurudeen appealed to the delegates to consider their long-term future rather than focusing solely on the one-day honorarium they may receive on voting day. He urged them to elect a candidate who will actively work to provide opportunities for themselves and their households to improve their lives. According to Mr. Nurudeen, that candidate is Mubarik Abdullah Ciessey.
In the Sunyani West constituency, the political landscape is undergoing a notable transformation as Hon. Ignatius Baffour Awuah, the long-standing Member of Parliament, faces an unexpected challenge from dynamic contenders. Among them, Mr. Mubarik Abdullah Ciessey, a grassroots personality born and raised in Fiapre, a stronghold of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), is rapidly gaining attention.
Hon. Baffour Awuah, who has represented the constituency for four consecutive terms spanning 16 years, is seeking re-election for a fifth term. His political journey started with an appointment as the District Chief Executive (DCE) of Sunyani, eventually rising to become the Deputy Brong Ahafo Regional Minister, then the Regional Minister overseeing the Brong Ahafo Region, currently Bono Region, Bono East Region, and Ahafo Region. He currently serves as the Minister of Employment and Labour Relations.
However, the MP, who previously faced little opposition, now finds himself grappling with a formidable challenge from within his party. Mubarik Abdullah Ciessey, a Finance Officer and financial consultant, has established himself as a force to be reckoned with, especially in the grassroots arena.
Mubarik’s roots in the party trace back to 1996 when he began his journey as a polling agent, solidifying his commitment to the NPP. His reputation as a dedicated supporter has earned him widespread respect among the local community, contributing to his current standing as a key contender.
The Sunyani West constituency, characterized by poverty and inadequate infrastructure, is hungry for transformation. The upcoming contest revolves around which candidate can genuinely address the constituency’s pressing issues, unite the people, and advocate for their fair share of national resources.
Mubarik Abdullah Ciessey, with his deep roots in the constituency, is positioning himself as the candidate who can bring about positive change. As the political landscape evolves, the Sunyani West constituency anticipates a vibrant competition that could potentially reshape its future.
