Highlife music has gone through changes
Popular iconic artiste, Kofi Nti known in real life as Theophilus Kofi Nti has admitted that Highlife music has gone through changes since its inception but key elements remain the same.
During an interview on Kastle FM in Cape Coast, he said “Times change and so do Highlife music also change but music in general also goes through a lot of transformation.
“When we emerged on the music scene, we played the beat a bit different from the days of Daddy Lumba’s trend and style of Highlife,” he explained.
He added, “We also changed it a bit and when the likes of Kuami Eugene and KiDi also came they’ve also come to change it”.
Talking to Amansan Krakye on the Kastle Entertainment Show, the ‘Odo Ndwom’ hitmaker said Reggae music has also gone through changes since the days of legendary icon Reggae musician, Bob Nesta Marley.
He continued, “Even with reggae it’s not the same reggae that Bob Marley did that is being done by the likes of Morgan Heritage now but I think it still got some elements of reggae music in it.
“So when it gets to certain times Highlife music does change but when it changes there are certain elements of it that should be heard in the Highlife song,” he stated.
