My team members laughed at me when I filed for VGMA Best Songwriter
Ghanaian singer, DJ Azonto christened Mark Kwesi Arthur has revealed that he filed for nominations in six categories at the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA).
“I filed for Artiste of the Year, New Artiste of the Year, Best Songwriter, Hiplife Song of the Year, Vodafone Most Popular Song of the Year and Best Afropop Song,” he said sighted by MyNewsGh.com.
However, after Charter House, organizers of the annual VGMA released the nominations for the 2023 edition, DJ Azonto had only one nomination.
Speaking ahead of the VGMA nominees list release, the ‘Fa No Fom’ hitmaker revealed that members of his team were laughing at him when he filed for the Best Songwriter of the Year.
“When I sat with my team members to inform them that we need to also file for VGMA Best Songwriter they were all laughing at me,” he told Amansan Krakye on Property Radio’s Showbiz.
After the nominations for the VGMA 24 were released last weekend, DJ Azonto was among the nominees for the Best New Artist of the Year for his exploits in the year under review.
