See your music as a business
Legendary Highlife musician Amakye Dede born Daniel Amakye Dede has urged colleague musicians to see their craft as a business and invest their all in it.
He says regardless of the fact that he has been on the scene for a long time and has played with his band for years, he continues to rehearse anytime he has a gig to play both in Ghana and out of the country.
Amakye Dede disclosed that he treats his craft as a business, making him relevant to date.
“You know music is my business, so I rehearse with my band anytime I have to perform. I’ve been with the band for a very long time but if there is any show, we rehearse,” he told Nana Aba Anamoah.
On why he has been able to keep his team for over 30 years he said “musicians always want you to do what they like and when you do what they like, they won’t leave you. Even some of the guys I’ve bought cars for them. I spread the money to them. They are always happy”.
