Vice President and flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has sent words of encouragement and well wishes to Afua Asantewaa O. Aduonum as she seems to break the record for the longest time a person has sung and set a new world record(sing-a-thon).

The Vice President is optimistic that Ms Aduonum will make Ghana proud by smashing the sing-a-thon record, currently held by the Indian Singer Sunil Waghmare.

“Wishing Afua Asantewaa O Aduonum all the best as she takes on the challenge of breaking the sing-a-thon record set by Indian singer Sunil Waghmare. Your passion and talent shine brightly, and I’m confident you’ll definitely make history. Keep singing your heart out! We are with you,” Dr Bawumia wrote on social media.

Ms Aduonum began the sing-a-thon challenge on Saturday, December 24, 2023, and is expected to end on Wednesday, December 27, 2023. He will have to sing more than 117 hours to be successful.

The Guinness World Records, which records such feats in its Guinness World Records Book and on its website, has been officially notified and has given Ms Aduonum the go-ahead. Her attempt will bring some attention to the Ghanaian music industry, especially since she’s singing only songs by Ghanaian artistes. Millions of Ghanaians have shown their support ever since she announced her intention to undertake the singing marathon.
