2021/22 Ghana Premier League matchday 2: Delightful WAFA deny Hearts of Oak victory in Sogakope

WAFA SC on Friday afternoon put up an impressive performance in Sogakope to deny Hearts of Oak what would have been the first victory of the new 2021/2022 football season.

The Phobians started a defence of the Ghana Premier League title last Sunday when the team hosted Legon Cities FC at the Accra Sports Stadium.

Although the champions dominated the game and emerged as the better side, they failed to score and hence had to settle for a point after a goalless draw.

Today in Sogakope, Coach Samuel Boadu and his Phobians played as a guest to WAFA SC looking to record the first win of the new season.

At halftime, Hearts of Oak led by a goal to nil courtesy of a strike from striker Kofi Kordzi.

Unfortunately, the team could not hold on to the lead in the second half and conceded when Sampson Agyepong scored in the 59th minute to restore parity for WAFA SC.

With no additional goals in the remaining minutes of the contest, WAFA SC has picked a point from Hearts of Oak who travel back to Accra disappointed.
